Japanese Kerria 2
I had more photos of the Kerria that I wanted to post, but I got side-tracked by the House Finches. It was one of those years when the blossoms were particularly abundant. Here are a few other pictures of this lovely plant.
Kerria are not much to look at when they are not in bloom. They are single stems that can be up to seven or eight feet tall. But they are valued for their bright yellow blooms in spring. It tends to be a little invasive, spreading through it's root system and putting up new stems. They are fairly easy to "root out," however. This variety is called "Golden Guinea" and has five petals but there is also a variety called Pleniflora which looks much more rose-like. Without further comment, here are some more of the images I took this spring.
