Going In 2
I find the split second after yesterday's post, when the bufflehead's head parts the water, to be more interesting, mostly due to the pliability of the water and the unique shape it takes with each dive. It is as though the duck had stuck it's head into a trumpet flower and was sampling the nectar. Notice also how each feather on the tail has carved the water into separate ridges as the duck pushes down with it's back end, her webbed feet relaxed and ready to go into action once she is below the surface.
