Sometimes, unplanned, you get more than you bargained for. I was focused in on a bufflehead female eating a mollusk of some kind that she had found on her last dive. I happened to press the shutter just as another female was re-emerging from her dive so that her head was just breaking water. A third female had just dived in the upper left. I have occasionally caught a fish jumping out of the water while filming something else.
