Before the nesting attempt on the light pole, there were two earlier attempts by the same pair of osprey to build a nest on a boathouse roof. The owner understandably discouraged that by erecting a "fence" of rope. When that didn't work, it appeared he put up an electric fence which effectively caused them to look elsewhere.
