Stuck on You

The great blue heron's bill was driven so far into the catfish several times that it had a hard time getting it off (see yesterday's post).  He would shake his head back and forth trying to extract his bill.  I saw this same bird catch a fish one day along the shore and after he caught it, he dropped it on the shore and speared it one time.  Then he turned his back and went back to fishing without eating it.  After a while, he flew off, at which point I went over to see what kind of fish meal he had turned down.  It was an eight inch rockfish!  The following day, I saw him catch and immediately release another fish — and it wasn't an accident.  I didn't know picky eaters extended to the animal kingdom.
